Food and cafés
Famous cafés and sweet shops in Sarajevo: Bosnian coffee and beyond
Bosnian coffee in a copper pot, tea houses in old alleys, sweet shops more than a century old, and walnut baklava: where to sit down in Sarajevo.
Coffee in Sarajevo is a ritual called “ćejf”: you sit without hurry, the pot in front of you. These are well-known places to start with, each linked to its location and current ratings on the map.
Bosnian coffee
Miris Dunja is a small café in a bazaar alley, and at Divan in Morića Han you sit in the courtyard of the last surviving Ottoman caravanserai. For modern specialty coffee: Ministry of Ćejf in Kovači.
Tea houses
Čajdžinica Džirlo on the climb to Kovači: dozens of teas and salep, plus Bosnian coffee, in a tiny room that feels like a living room.
Sweets

Baklava Dućan specialises in Bosnian walnut baklava and other varieties. Slastičarna Ramis on Sarači street is one of the oldest sweet shops in town. For ice cream: Egipat on Ferhadija — the summer queue will show you where.
Also try
Tufahija (poached apple stuffed with walnuts), hurmašica, and salep in winter. Rahatlook, near Ferhadija, is good for cake and coffee.
