Day trips
Day trips from Sarajevo: six places you can reach and return from
Mostar, Blagaj, Konjic, Travnik, Jajce and the Kravica waterfalls: distance, what to see and how to plan the day.
One advantage of living in Sarajevo is that Bosnia's most beautiful towns are one to three hours away by car, on scenic mountain roads.
Konjic: the first stop heading south
A town on the Neretva halfway to Mostar, with its Ottoman stone bridge. A good coffee stop and the base for rafting trips.

Mostar
The Old Bridge over the Neretva, the stone bazaar around it, and local divers jumping from the bridge.
Blagaj
Fifteen minutes from Mostar: an old tekke pressed against a high cliff, where the river Buna rises from a cave.

Kravica waterfalls
South of Mostar: a half-circle of falls dropping into a green lake. Swimming in summer; strongest flow in spring.
Travnik
The town of Ottoman viziers: a hilltop fortress and the cold spring Plava voda, where you sit and eat Travnik's well-known ćevapi.
Jajce
A town with a waterfall in its centre, where the Pliva drops into the Vrbas, with the Pliva lakes and old wooden mills nearby.

Tip: do not combine south and west in one day.
