The best time to visit Bosnia: the four seasons in brief
A green spring, a mild summer, a colourful autumn and a white winter: what to expect each season and which suits your purpose.
Bosnia has four clear seasons, and each gives you a different country. The right time depends on your aim: sightseeing, escaping the heat, skiing or viewing a property.
Spring (March – May)
Everything is green and the rivers and waterfalls are at their strongest. A very good time to view land, because you see it as it is.
Summer (June – September)
The busiest season for Gulf visitors. Sarajevo and the mountains are mild, with cool nights; the south (Mostar) is hotter. The Sarajevo Film Festival takes place in August.

Autumn (October – November)
Forests turn yellow and red, crowds thin and prices fall.
Winter (December – February)
Snow, skiing and warm cafés.

And when to view a property?
Any time works, but spring and autumn are best: no snow covering the land, open roads, and offices working at their normal pace.
