Places to visit
Honeymoon in Bosnia: the best places and a suggested plan
Quiet, romantic places for newlyweds in Bosnia: Sarajevo, Mostar, Jajce and the mountains, with a suggested plan and booking tips.
Bosnia suits a honeymoon for couples who prefer nature and calm to crowds: green mountains, clear rivers, old towns made for slow walks, and halal food that is easy to find. Distances are short.
Sarajevo
Walk Baščaršija in the evening, take the cable car up Trebević and watch the sunset from the Yellow Fortress.
Vrelo Bosne
A long tree-lined avenue leads to the spring of the river Bosna; you can ride it by horse carriage. Go in the morning.
Mostar and Blagaj
The Old Bridge is at its best in the evening. Minutes away, the Blagaj tekke sits at the source of the Buna, with restaurants right on the water.
Kravica waterfalls
Wide falls dropping into a natural pool south of Mostar. You can swim in summer.
Jajce and the Pliva lakes
A small town with a waterfall in its centre, next to the Pliva lakes and old wooden mills.
The mountains
Bjelašnica and Jahorina offer cool air and walking in summer, snow and skiing in winter.
