Skiing near Sarajevo: Jahorina and Bjelašnica
Two Olympic mountains under an hour from the city: which suits you, when the season runs, and what to do if you do not ski.
Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics, and the two mountains where the alpine races were held still welcome visitors every winter — both under an hour from the centre.
Jahorina
Long, wide slopes, ski schools for children and adults, and hotels right on the piste. Some runs open for night skiing.

Bjelašnica
Higher than Jahorina and closer to Sarajevo from the Hadžići and Ilidža side. Steeper slopes for experienced skiers, with old mountain villages nearby.
If you do not ski
Sledging with children, forest walks, or a mountain restaurant by the fire.
